Health Benefits of Dates

Dates are an awesome natural sweetener to add to your recipes (not just chocolate sauce but also your energy bites, granola bars and more) instead of using artificial sweeteners or refined sugar.

As with other dried fruit, dates are lower in water, making them higher in calories and sugar than fresh fruit. Dates also happen to be loaded with fiber which is fantastic for a healthy digestive tract. Dates are also lower on the glycemic index than bananas, so they give you even more staying power and sustained energy. Choosing slow carbs more often can help you control your blood sugar and lose weight and keep it off!

Dates are rich in antioxidants called polyphenols that can help lower inflammation and could help relieve chronic pain.
Dates are rich in magnesium, iron and vitamin B6.  The magnesium can help manage blood sugar levels and boosts bone strength. Vitamin B6 helps you metabolize your food to turn it into energy you can use.  The iron in dates enables your red blood cells to move oxygen around your body and prevents iron-deficiency anemia.
